Client: MAB Corporation

Project Summary:

Chris Beardshaw has been the principal stormwater engineer for the development of the 1000ha site on Donnybrook Road, Merrifield. The site has provided numerous challenges for stormwater management, requiring detailed hydrological (RORB) modelling and expertise; expert hydrodynamic modelling (TUFLOW); and experienced advice with respect to Melbourne Water Scheme principals and processes.

In particular the design of the central waterway within the development has provided a challenge for both the engineering design team and Melbourne Water. The sodic, dispersive soils that dominate the area provide a significant risk for the stability of the waterway, and future maintenance and water quality for the region. Chris has worked hard in bringing these highly technical challenges into understandable and comprehensible discussion pieces. This has been some of the most challenging, complex problems of Chris’s career, and he has been proud to work with Melbourne Water to find workable solutions to these problems.

Key Features and Innovations:

  • Extremely technical and challenging design environment.
  • Largest Drainage scheme in Melbourne requiring understanding of large systems.
  • Drainage Scheme Evolution.
